The main factions featured in Star Wars Conquest are the Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance and the Hutt Cartel. But the player can also spot patrols belonging to other minor factions, such as Black Sun or the Tusken raiders. The player can choose whether to help any of the major ones and maybe enter war, or stay alone as a merchant, assassin, arena fighter. The player may also create his own faction.
Formed from the Galactic Republic in 19 BBY at the end of the Clone Wars, the Galactic Empire is the incumbent governing body of the galaxy. They use fear to keep the systems in line, and view anyone who isn't a human as life unworthy of life. The seat of the Galactic Empire is Coruscant, known to the Imperials as Imperial Center. Its leader is Emperor Sheev Palpatine, who in truth is the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Sidious.
Formed in 2 BBY following the heroic sacrifice of Darth Vader's secret apprentice, Galen Marek, the Rebel Alliance (full name Alliance to Restore the Republic) is a group of former senators, smugglers, bounty hunters, dissidents, and non-humans with one common goal: to destroy the Galactic Empire and restore the Galactic Republic. Though often resorting to less-than-desirable and morally-questionable tactics, the Rebellion fights for peace, freedom, justice, and security across the galaxy. After the destruction of the First Death Star a year ago, the Alliance has gone from an excuse for Palpatine to increase military buildup and spending to a legitimate threat to his rule.
Formed by the 600-year-old Hutt crime lord and gangster, Jabba the Hutt, who employs a retinue of criminals, bounty hunters, smugglers, bodyguards and assassins to operate his criminal empire. Their only goal is becoming financially dominant under any means necessary, no matter who they harm.
