The Pening (plural; peningas) is the currency of Viking Conquest.
"Pening" is the Old English word for "penny". The similarly-named pennings were used in Norway and Sweden at the same time and were modeled after the English penny. During the time period of Viking Conquest, pennies were thin silver coins weighing around 1-1.7 grams.

How to get it[]
* Selling items (after buying them, obtaining them through raids or battles, as prizes in tournaments) to towns, villages (though all start with 0 and they are depending on you to give them cash, while town replenish their currency), bandit camp (though it requires negative reputation), monasteries, farmsteads, salt mines, your own blacksmith from the Follower's party (when obtained) and even book peddlers.
*From completing quests from mayors or from the storyline.
*Selling prisoners to Ransom Brokers, Slave Traders, Lords (only some high level troops depending on lord culture for e.g. Norse Noble) or in Stone Row
*Rents, Tarriffs or Productive Enterprises
*From winning battles as spoils
*Collecting rent for lords
*Protecting caravans
*Extorting villages
*Defeating lords in battle and then transforming the trophies into peningas in towns (for peningas but also for reputation with the town)
*ransoming captured Lords
Trivia[]
Despite this, some dialogues in the game include the name "coin" (for e.g. ones with the christian bishop) but despite that, it is the same currency.
