Template:Hero box Jeremus is one of the heroes of Calradia, who starts out skilled in the healing arts - Wound Treatment, Surgery, and First Aid. He is a doctor who can be hired for free and wants to join the player's party to seek adventure.

Jeremus is not of noble birth, so granting him fiefs in Warband costs some relation points with most of the lords of Calradia. Lord Jeremus will then recruit whatever troops are available in his lands, regardless of nationality.

When passing by Almerra Castle, Jeremus will discuss how he treated the lord there of the dropsy. In this tale, he discusses how the writings of an ancient Calradian doctor, Galerian, are taken as perfect and without error by most of Calradia's universities. Jeremus disagrees, saying that most of it is garbage, but there are kernels of truth in there, such as a cure for the dropsy... in the right dosage. Jeremus' disagreement with Galerian's writings caused him to be evicted from the university he went to, but he considered it a blessing as it gave him a chance to learn from the midwives and others in Calradia as he journeyed. This defiance of Galerian's writings also serves as the source of his problems with Artimenner, who considers these writings to be critical to medicine.

He also finds a dislike in Matheld, seeing the Nord woman as a barbarian for accusing him of witchcraft when he tried to cure a headache of hers and for believing a group of local peasants to be breeding with apes. However, he does find a philosophical friend in Firentis, as the two share a dislike of Calradia's constant killing and would like to see it end one day.

Story

Jeremus Full

"I shall tell you -- but know that it is a tale of gross iniquity. I warn you in advance, lest you are of a choleric temperament, and so become incensed at the injustice done unto me that you do yourself a mischief."

"I am by training a natural philosopher, but condemned by the jealousy of the thick-headed doctors of my university to make my living as an itinerant surgeon. I was hired by a merchant of this city to cure his son, who fell into a coma after a fall from his balcony. I successfully trepanned the patient's skull to reduce the cranial swelling, but the family ignored my advice to treat the ensuing fevers with a tincture of willow bark, and the boy died. The father, rather than reward me for my efforts, charged me with sorcery -- me, a philosopher of nature! Such is the ignorance and ingratitude of mankind."

"The lord of this castle is reluctant to place me under arrest, but I am anxious to move on elsewhere."
