Boats are a feature introduced in Viking Conquest. There are six different types of boats: Byrdings, Knorrs, Snekkjas, Skeids, Karvis, and Busses.

Boats can be obtained by ordering the construction of a boat in any port town by talking to a shipwright, by buying a second-hand boat from a shipwright, or sometimes from winning sea battles, with the Looting skill increasing this chance. In the campaign, the player gets a Snekkja when finishing the quests in Friese.

The boats can be made from three different types of woods: ash, pine, or oak, with ash being the worst quality of wood and oak being the best quality. From every boat, the pattern and colour of the sail can be customized, as well as the boat itself, if made out of oak. But these changes are purely cosmetic. If a boat's condition is not maintained, it can sink during bad weather at sea.

Properties of the sea vesselsEdit

Each vessel has it own properties, but the slowest ship determines how fast the fleet can travel on the world map. During sea battles, the speed you can achieve depends on the wind when sailing. If you are rowing, it the number of men on the ship determine the speed. A ship with only a quarter of its max capacity will be slower then the same boat with full crew. Also note that sailors can increase the speed of a ship a slightly more than normal soldiers.

! The capacity of the ship is in men of your army. Prisoners are not added to the capacity count.
